Justin • Service Desk Analyst 1 • Wyomissing
In December 2012, I received a phone call from my OVR counselor about a possible job with InspiriTec. She mentioned I would be assisting customers over the telephone (and possibly email) with technical issues. About a week after emailing my resume to HR, I got a phone interview. After the phone interview, I was scheduled for an in-person interview. I was extremely excited to learn that I would be answering phone calls on the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) project, and utilizing computer software to create service tickets. I had to go through extensive training to prepare for the PSP project. I was trained on soft skills (customer service, telephone etiquette) and technical skills (Help Desk Institute Support Center Analyst certification course + exam). To gain the HDI certification, I had to score at least 80% on the exam. I completed all of the required training, and passed the HDI exam! I then completed a few more weeks of training, which included mock calls with my supervisors. In February 2013, I started taking live calls. Since then, I have worked on more projects, and I have changed my job title. I am now a Service Desk Analyst 1 on the Public Safety Service Desk. In addition to the PSP project, I work on the Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole, and the Pennsylvania Coalition on Crime and Delinquency contracts. I will celebrate my 10th year with InspiriTec in 2023. I enjoy my job, and I enjoy helping others. InspiriTec has given me the opportunity to better myself – I now have my own car and home. My suggestion to others with disabilities seeking employment is to always believe in yourself. You can do this! The sky is the limit! Never give up on your hopes and dreams!
