InspiriTec’s employees are our key asset and the fruit of our mission. Each real-life story below reveals the impact made possible through our partnerships with commercial customers and the dedication of our committed supporters.

Susan • Survey Agent • Philadelphia
Over the years, I applied for many jobs, but had been unsuccessful. Because of my disability, I would appear anxious and display inappropriate mannerisms during interviews, which employers were unable to look past. I wanted to remain productive, so I found volunteer opportunities in the community. These kept me busy, but did not provide me with the independence that comes with a paycheck. Eventually, OVR placed me into a computer training program and then referred me to InspiriTec. InspiriTec was able to look past my Autism Spectrum Disorder to see my potential as a contributing employee. I was hired as a Tier 1 Help Desk Agent for the Child Welfare Information System (CWIS) project, where I assisted callers with technical software, hardware and network problem resolution. I now conduct surveys for multiple projects based in our Philadelphia office. Prior to coming here, I was a different person – very insecure. This job has given me a sense of direction and independence. InspiriTec has supported me every step of the way. Little things make all the difference, like sometimes meeting with my InspiriTec case manager before work to engage in breathing and relaxation exercises to set the tone for the day. My manager has also created a flexible schedule so that I can attend regularly scheduled medical/therapy appointments. The best part of having a job at InspiriTec is that it has made me a better person. This job has given me a sense of balance and a chance to contribute to the workforce in a way that I had never done before. I now have a sense of purpose and self-confidence. I enjoy feeling like part of a team at InspiriTec. This job provides a second family! My advice to others with disabilities is, “don’t second guess yourself about your disabilities and what you can do. Never give up. If I can do it, you can too.”
